Do you want to be famous?
If so, you’re not alone. In a recent study of nearly 1,000 survey interviews of adults born between 1997 and 2012, almost a quarter answered that being famous is important to them – an eight-point increase compared to a similar survey taken of the generation before.
Whether you fall into this generation or not, it’s hard to deny the allure of fame, especially in today’s culture, where it can be as easy as posting a video from your phone.
At Passion 2021, Sadie Rob Huff dove headfirst into the topic of our generation’s obsession with becoming famous and challenged us with an essential question: who are we making famous with our lives?
For Passion, the answer to this question has always been rooted in Isaiah 26:8
Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws,
we wait for you;
your name and renown
are the desire of our hearts.
Simply put, we do everything we do to make Jesus more famous, to promote His name. That is our mission. What’s yours? Have you ever stopped and considered whose fame you are promoting? Is it an influencer, a brand, an organization, or does your life push the name of Jesus above all of the other characters and communicate His worth and glory to the World?
This is an excellent question to ask regularly. We should all challenge our motives against a life lived wholly for Jesus and ask God to reveal anything in us that is chasing other accolades.
This message from Sadie Rob Huff reminds us of just that. Sign up for Passion Digital All Access today and rewatch her entire message from Passion 2021 as you take stock of the chase for fame or the promotion of others in your own life.
