HEROES // JoAnna Williams
JoAnna Williams is a first grade teacher in Dekalb County. When she had to figure out how to teach six-year-olds over Zoom, she thought that she’d seen the hardest part of her job in this new, temporary normal. What she learned was that comforting her students’ struggling parents and guardians would prove far more emotionally taxing.
HEROES // Jack Carter
Officer Jack Carter is an officer with the Metro Atlanta PD. While many had the option to quarantine at home to protect them from contracting and spreading COVID, Jack and the rest of the officers throughout the country didn’t have that luxury. Instead, he put his own health on the line to serve his community, even if the toll it would take on his personal life felt overwhelming.
HEROES // Lindsey Biber
Lindsey Biber is an ER nurse in Atlanta. On the front lines from the very first COVID cases in the city, Lindsey and the rest of the ER staff had to weather supply shortages, packed waiting rooms, and brutal working conditions for a year straight in order to treat and comfort the sick filling her hospital’s COVID wards. Even when the virus hit her in her own home, Jesus used her community to give her the strength she needed to press on.
Lehn’s Story // Overcoming and Community
After Anthony and Leah Rose were married, tragedy hit their family. Addiction. Infidelity. Uncertainty, anger, and bitterness. They moved to Atlanta separately and were unsure about what their future together looked like...until they found the healing balm of Jesus-centered community.
