good
news.

Part one

the problem.

Everything is not as it should be.

Humanity has a problem. We don’t need an expert analysis to show us what we know is true: things are broken. We experience pain and sorrow. Hate and anger. Disease and death. People are lonely, desperately searching for purpose and identity. Shame, anxiety, and fear surround us. Yes, life is hard, but it’s not because God doesn’t exist or doesn’t care. Things seem broken because we live in a world that is stained by sin. What is sin? Sin is choosing less than God’s best, rebelling against His design, and going our own way.

We need God's help.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

ROMANS 3:23-24

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

ROMANS 6:23

If we want to know the good news, we have to recognize the bad news. And what’s devastating about our situation is that sin has distorted and marred all of creation, including humanity. From birth, we are sinful people, and because of our sin, we are separated from a holy God. Left to our own devices, there is nothing we can do to close that gap. No amount of effort, obedience, or a personal pursuit of perfection will do. That’s because sin doesn’t just make us bad people. It’s far worse than that... sin makes us spiritually dead. Therefore, it is impossible for us to earn our way back into a relationship with God because dead people can’t do anything to fix what’s been broken. But there is one who can. And because of Him, the devastation of sin doesn’t have to be the end of the story.

Part two

the remedy.

If that’s the bad news,
what’s the GOOD NEWS?

God loved.

God loved you SO much He gave us a solution to our biggest problem. By His grace, He put into motion the greatest rescue plan in history, a plan to save you and bring you back to LIFE. A plan to make a way for you to be in a relationship with Him. To rescue us, God sent His Son, Jesus, to be God in human flesh, perfection on this broken Earth. He lived a spotless life. Although He didn’t deserve it, Jesus willingly died on a cross because of His great love for you. He closed the gap between you and God. He suffered the judgment and wrath that your sinful nature and deeds deserved. He paid the penalty in full.

In short: He died in your place.

good
news.

God
loved.

But even death could not stop Jesus.

He defeated the powers of sin and death once and for all when He rose from the grave.

Jesus is alive!

This is the ultimate victory. Through His resurrection, we can now have hope, life, and freedom from death. Jesus did for us what we could not do for ourselves, bringing us back into relationship with God. That’s why the name of Jesus is the only name that saves. His power is the only power that can raise us from being spiritually dead and give us eternal life.

This is the Gospel, the GOOD NEWS.

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

JOHN 3:16

God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:21

All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting men’s sins against them.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:18-19

Part three

the gift.

There is nothing you can do or offer that will bring you back into a right relationship with God. But you can be made ALIVE when you, by grace, say yes to Jesus and willingly surrender to His plans and purposes for your life.

God is offering you the gift of eternal life, peace, and joy through His Son Jesus Christ. He desires to be in a relationship with you, and if you, by faith, trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you are saved from sin and are made new and righteous before God. This is called salvation.

We don’t deserve salvation, and we definitely can’t earn it. But you can receive it. The invitation is yours. If you want to go from spiritual death to everlasting life and know for sure that you are right with God, then place your faith in Jesus. He is the only way, the only truth, and the only life that saves.

Being saved is not a magic formula, but it starts with a humble confession, a prayer to the God of the Universe who created you, loved you, and made a way for you to come back to Him.

You can pray this in your own words…

pray.

Jesus,

I want to be saved. I want LIFE!  I confess my sins and ask for forgiveness. I believe You came to die on the cross for the payment of sins, and I believe You rose from the dead to overcome death once and for all.

I receive Your love, grace, and the gift of eternal life today! I put my old life behind me and choose to trust and follow You alone as my personal Lord and Savior.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us…

Ephesians 1:7-8
