Opportunities to Serve in Atlanta, Ga.

MUST Ministries – Food Distribution at Local Schools

Our partner, MUST Ministries, helps homeless and struggling individuals and families with food, clothing, housing, employment, and other resources. Join us in helping MUST Ministries combat food insecurity, and meet the need to ensure that every student in Cobb County Schools has access to food during school cancellations.

  • Biggest Need(s): Food Distribution Volunteers, Food Donations
  • Opportunities to Serve: 

Food Distribution Volunteers: Volunteers are needed on Mondays for the next 7 weeks to help distribute meal kits to children and families in need due to school closures. The shift will be from 10:30am-1:00pm.

Food Donations: MUST Ministries is in need of the following items for MUST Rapid Response Food Boxes: Beef Stew, canned green beans, canned corn, any other beans, dry milk (carton),  canned potatoes, canned tomatoes, pinto or baked beans, canned pasta, mac and cheese box,  bag of pasta, canned mix vegetables, canned carrots, canned peaches or fruit, canned tuna, oatmeal bag or rice bag,  and chunky soup.

Atlanta Public Schools (APS)

Our partner, Atlanta Public Schools, provides students in the City of Atlanta a wonderful educational experience while developing leadership skills that go on to affect our global society! Join us in helping APS combat food insecurity, and meet the need to ensure that every student in Atlanta Public Schools has access to food during school cancellations.


  • Biggest Need(s): Bus Riders, Food Site Support
  • Opportunities to Serve:


Bus Riders // Each volunteer riding a bus to help deliver food to bus stops is to report to the food distribution site they choose at 8:45am. The shift will be from 9:00am-1:00pm.

Food Site Support (Kitchen and Drive-thru) // Each volunteer serving in the kitchen or the drive through needs to report to their distribution site they choose by 7:00am. The shift will run from 7:00am-1:00pm. 

Meals on Wheels – Meal Delivery to seniors

Our partner, Meals on Wheels, works to support senior independence through meals, shelter, education, and community. Meal Services provides nourishing meals to low-income and homebound seniors in Atlanta who are unable to afford or access adequate nutrition. Come join us as we help deliver meals to those in our community!


  • Biggest Need(s): Food Donations through Virtual Food Drive, Delivery Volunteers, Shelf Stable Meal Packing
  • Opportunities to Serve:
    • Virtual Food Drive: A $9 donation can provide meals to at-risk seniors. Our partner is accepting donations through Venmo (@MOWATL) and Cash App ($MOWATL)
    • Senior Meal Delivery Volunteers: 
      • Volunteers won’t have to leave their vehicles to get the deliveries. The Meals on Wheels team will take the food to each vehicle and will provide the delivery routes. Each delivery route should take no more than one (1) hour.
    • Shelf Stable Meal Packing (Monday through Friday)

Opportunities to Serve in Washington D.C.

SOME (So Others Might Eat)

Our partner, SOME (So Others Might Eat), is an organization that is committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness in our nation’s capital. Along with providing services such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, SOME is committed to meeting daily needs of food, clothing, and healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Biggest Need(s): Non-perishable food donations, Meal preparation

Opportunities to Serve: SOME is looking for volunteers that are able to prepare meals for next-day distribution, allowing them to minimize guest interaction while ensuring that vulnerable individuals have access to meals and other basic needs. Serving opportunities are available every day at 1:30-4 pm.  

Capital Area Food Bank

Our partner, Capital Area Food Bank, works year round to provide good, healthy food to people facing food insecurity through after school meals, senior programs, and pop up pantries. Join us as we help to equip our neighbors with resources and work together in the fight against hunger.


  • Biggest Need(s): Emergency Relief Box Preparation, Non-Perishable Food Donation 
  • Opportunities to Serve:


Emergency Relief Box Preparation: Volunteers are needed to help build boxes of non-perishable food items and cold to-go meals to provide our partners delivering to families and individuals in need. Shift times vary throughout the day, Monday through Friday.

Martha’s Table

Our partner, Martha’s Table, is committed to protecting the health, safety, and well-being of the D.C. community. Join us as Martha’s Table doubles down on the mission to support strong children, strong families, and strong communities to provide nutrient-rich foods and shelf-stable bagged meals to battle food insecurity. 


  • Biggest Need(s): Grocery Bagging, Food Preparation
  • Opportunities to Serve:


Grocery Bagging: Volunteers are needed to help build bags full of healthy foods for children and families affected by school closures. Shifts will be 10a -1p Monday through Friday. 

Food Preparation: Volunteers are needed to help prep, cook, and package meals for nightly, hot meal distribution, prepare bags of groceries and cold meals. Shifts will be 10a – 12:30p Monday through Sunday.
