17 Be good to your servant while I live,
that I may obey your word.
18 Open my eyes that I may see
wonderful things in your law.
Psalm 119:17-18
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength
Ephesians 1:18-19
Throughout Scripture we see the fullness of God. We see His Son and His Spirit at work. We see His heart on beautiful display… His goodness, faithfulness, grace, mercy and love for us. Every page we read is an opportunity to know Him more and become more like Him.
There’s a heavenly exchange that takes place when we choose to diligently pursue God through the reading of the Word. The more we spend time with Him, the more we become like Him. As a result, we ultimately begin to see as He sees. We’ll see people and circumstances differently as our heart is changed, becoming more like Jesus.
Each day we have a decision to make; a commitment to seek God with our whole heart. It’s in the seeking – the breathing in of the heart and voice of God from Scripture – that our eyes are opened in wonder, we gain wisdom and understanding, and we hold fast to His way. This way of living directly influences how we see, love and respond to the world around us.
The Word of God is alive; a rich store of wisdom and discernment helping us to see, to have focused and clear sight, and as a result, a focused and clear heart and mind!
Ask God to help you see your life moment by moment through the lens of the Scriptures in today’s reading.
