9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.
105 Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord.
Light. By it we can see the world around us. We see shapes, color, people, and the ground beneath our feet. We see the vastness of the sky or the depth of a canyon. We witness the power of the ocean and wind in the trees. It brings definition to what we behold and experience with our eyes and how we process what we’re feeling in our heart and mind.
There’s another Light with even greater potential and purpose in our lives, while similarly bringing clarity and definition within our heart. Just as God commanded light to shine out of darkness, He also shines light in our hearts, seen and known in the person of Jesus, to bring transformation and knowledge of the Holy One.
The Word shines a refining light in our hearts revealing what still needs work. But it doesn’t stop there. It also gives light to the path before us so we know which steps to take next to more fully align our lives with God’s heart. In the same way as before, this light brings definition to what we behold and experience with our eyes and how we process what we’re feeling in our heart and mind through the lens of Scripture.
From today’s Scriptures, ask God to bring to light anything that needs refinement and write out a prayer of commitment to allowing the Word to work and transform your heart!
